Age and Immunization Requirements for Kindergarten 2011-2012

These are the official kindergarten requirements for the 2011-2012 school year:

  • To enroll in kindergarten, state law requires children to be 5 years old by September 30.
  • To enroll in full-day kindergarten there is an additional fee and space is limited. Deposits were required at many schools by April 1st.
  • Your child must have current immunizations
  • You must complete the official district paperwork. The best part about getting the forms online is that you can type in your answers. If you have multiple children in the same family save a lot of time by simply completing the form, then changing out for child’s name and birth date information.
~
Use the school district website to locate your neighborhood school and pick up all of the necessary forms before heading down to your school. Many school offices are closed the month of July so you will want to call ahead for summer hours.

Plan NOW for Full Day Kindergarten – Interest List Due APRIL 1!

If your child will be attending kindergarten in Clark County Schools next September it is critical to get your applications in NOW.

Should you not be able to make it to the school to complete the full application process you must CALL THE SCHOOL to express interest by April 1.

In Las Vegas full day kindergarten is not free. Families pay $325 a month to extend the school day. You will be required to make a $100 deposit to apply. See details below.

After adding in the costs of daycare before or after school some families select to have their child attend a day care for kindergarten so that their child will stay in the same environment for the entire school day.  ***I will soon do a post listing private school full day kindergarten options***

If your child receives special education services and you need full day kindergarten you need to contact your son or daughter’s IEP team NOW to ensure there is a campus placement available.

Should you believe that your child has a developmental delay and will need special education services you must get in contact with special education NOW. Do not wait until after your child is enrolled in full time school. Contact special education immediately do not delay. If your child is over three years old but under five – contact Child Find either directly or through a referral from your pediatrician.
