Gurl Fest and the Cookie Carnival down at Girl Scouts headquarters are two events my daughters can’t wait to attend each year. This is a great place in Las Vegas to have your daughter meet other positive girls working on goals for their futures.
Membership in Girl Scouts is open to all girls 5-17 years old at a cost of only $12 per year. Even if your school does not have a troop, your daughter can still join as an independent girl scout member which allows her to sell nuts and cookies towards the cost of going to camp each year. Plus your daughter can go on trips and do activities at headquarters for little or no fee. When we first moved to Las Vegas it was a great experience to go on trips with my daughter to Shark Reef and do crafts with other independent members as a way to get to know our community.
Plus girl scouts can get the thrill of camp by going with a parent to the affordable Camp-o-Ree at $20 per person for 2 days of camping.
This is not the same girl scouts as when we were kids and our parents had to fork over big bucks for fancy uniforms. While the uniforms are great girls do not have to have one to participate.
